Alpaca is setting it's hooves to The Hub Tampere

Yesterday Alpaca participated to The Hub’s meeting at Tampere and decided to dive in as it starts.

The Hub can be described in many ways, I believe the words stolen from their global site at http://the-hub.net/about.html describe it well:

The Hub is a global community of people from every profession, background and culture working at ‘new frontiers’ to tackle the world’s most pressing social, cultural and environmental challenges.

We set out to create places that borrow from the best of a member’s club, an innovation agency, a serviced office and a think-tank to create a very different kind of innovation environment.

So, as a social entity, relying in social meetings, sustainable business and ecosystem thinking, it was clear that D_A wanted to be a part of it and see how the new ecosystem grows in Tampere.

So in the beginning as the Hub kicks off, you may meet D_A at the Hub a couple of hours a week, and later on if it seems necessary, the hours may increase.

If you want to read more about this, check the Finnish [sorry English speaking people] blog at http://hubtampere.wordpress.com/ If you want to know more in English, contact the nice people at the Hub Tampere, they can provide you the same info in English.

We’ll see you later at the Hub! |=_0|

Yesterday I had a nice conversation with Petri Räsänen at Protomo. Like it reads at their site, Protomo is to offer an agile process, facilities and a community to support multi-disciplinary product and service development and bringing them to market.

After the conversation I began to think how interesting combination of innovation is actually building in Tampere.

In the same premises is also located Demola, an open innovation environment for students and companies to get together and create something new and interesting.

Now there’s also a third environment building up to the same building, called the Hub. As it reads in Hub Tampere blog, The Hub is an initiative to build a network of places around the world where entrepreneurs, innovators and change makers can meet and work together to tackle the world’s most pressing social, cultural and environmental challenges.

This all seems very interesting and innovative for the future and Digital_Alpaca is also contemplating how to be a part in all of this. There are many things in the values and visions of these concepts that resonate very well with D_A’s own and it is going to be very interesting to see how these affect the entrepreneurial culture in Finland and are these ripples for some greater change.
